When one thinks of a ballerina party, dainty little delicacies, pink and white decor, and thoughts of little tutus dance in our heads. If you are in need of some party food ideas for your splendid affair, here are some great options to consider as you prepare for your ballet party theme.
BALLERINA CAKES
A fun and fabulous dessert will surely be the piece de resistance for any great ballerina party. Most likely one will opt for a wonderful ballet themed cake, and bakeries will have numerous fu-fu type cakes from which to select. In the alternative, you can jump in with both feet and make your own one-of-a-kind creation.
Make or buy a sheet cake and cover it in a light pink frosting. Another option would be to cover it with fondant, which will give your cake a real professional look, not to mention an extremely smooth surface.
Then you will want to use a second sheet cake to cut out a pair of ballet-shaped slippers. Cover them with fondant or frosting and set them on top of the cake. You can then finish the cake off by piping on a bow and strap on the slippers.
BALLET PARTY FOOD
Finger Sandwiches - Most kids like to stick with the basics. Things like egg salad, grilled cheese, turkey, ham, cheese, and good ole' peanut butter and jelly are all good options. Cut the sandwiches into star shapes using a cookie cutter. Another option would be to cut the sandwiches into fourths and remove the crusts. Serve them on a doily-covered plate.
Fruit - Cut up various colorful fruits like kiwi, pineapple, strawberries, apples, and grapes. Place them in a plastic goblet and tie a ribbon onto the stem.
Ballerina Wands - Make or buy sugar cookie dough. Roll it out and cut out some stars. Insert a Popsicle stick under each cookie before baking. Cool, frost and decorate the stars or else have the girls do this as an activity.
Lemonade - The perfect ballerina drink of choice is pink lemonade. For added fun, use crushed ice for a crunchy treat. If you want to serve the lemonade in a punch bowl, float an ice ring that contains various chunks of colorful fruit. Another fun idea would be to float edible flowers in the punch bowl. Just be sure to have enough for all the girls as most if not all will have never eaten a flower. Another fun idea would be to serve up your lemonade in plastic goblets; ballerina printed party cups, or tea cups.
