If your daughter has visions of everything pink and sees like through tulle-covered glasses, it sounds like a ballerina party is a must-do. The following ideas are provided to help jump-start planning that special party for your little ballerina.
You might want to think of enlisting the help of a few parents or teen helpers to ease the burden of doing it all yourself. As D-Day draws near and/or the party is in full-swing, an extra pair of hands or two will be a most welcomed addition.
BALLERINA PARTY DECOR IDEAS
Hang clusters of white and pale pink balloons throughout the party room. For an extra nice touch, use some polka dot balloons in these colors also.
Twisted white and pink streamers will bring a room to life. For a truly special touch, cover the entire ceiling with streamers. Start early, preferably a day or two before the party, as this baby will take some time to accomplish.
Set your table in ballerina style. Start by covering it with a crisp pink linen tablecloth and topping it off with a white runner or vice-versa. Place a rolled up cloth napkin tied off with white and pink curling ribbons at each place setting. For added interest, fold the napkins into a swan shape.
Make a centerpiece with a Barbie doll wearing a pink leotard and a full-length pink tulle skirt. Place her feet into a piece of soft clay and affix it to a plate. Voila! instant ballerina centerpiece.
Lastly, toss some ballet confetti onto the table top to give it some sparkle.
TIPPY-TOE CONTEST
This simple contest can be quite fun. Have everyone stand on their toes and whoever remains the longest is the winner. To make it a little harder, have everyone walk around the room on their toes.
BALLERINA RELAY GAME
What better combination than a game that lets everyone enjoy ballet moves and the fun of a relay. If you have not requested your guests to dress in their tu-tu best, then you will want to be sure to provide one to them. They're easy to make. All you need is heavy string and a darning needle to thread a few layers of tulle, knot the end of the string, and leave a piece of string for the children to tie them around their waists.
Write each of your guests' names on pieces of paper and place them into a container. Have the birthday ballerina draw the names out one at a time. Create the teams in accordance with the sequence that the names are announced.
Each team will then run a relay on their tip-toes, while dancing their way across the room. Be sure to have everyone wear their tutus. You can also have them do other ballet moves for other relays like pirouette 3 times, arabesque, grand plie', curtsey, etc. Whichever team completes the relay in the least amount of time shall be the winners.
MUSICAL BALLERINA
This game is an adaptation of musical chairs. All you need to do is have the kids dance around the chairs rather than walk and play ballet-type music in the background.
All of these fun ballerina party ideas will help to make your little ballerina's guests feel both special and beautiful.
