If you've decided to host a ballerina party for your budding ballerina, I have some invitation ideas that are sure to keep all concerned on their toes. Traditionally, one thinks pink when they think about ballet. However, the following ideas can easily be adapted to the use of any other colors.
BALLET SLIPPER INVITE #1 - Cut the shape of a pair of ballet slipper from pink card stock. Decorate one side using jewels, sequins, glitter and ribbons. Write the party details on the reverse side, as well as a fun birthday message like:
Twirl on over to (Name's) House
We are celebrating her (age) birthday.
And we're going to have Tu-Tu much fun!
BALLET SLIPPER INVITE #2 - Take a piece of pink card stock and fold it in half. On one side, draw a ballet slipper shape and cut it out going through all thicknesses. Leave the slippers attached at the bottom so it can be opened like a birthday card. Write the party info inside and decorate the outside of the slippers as noted in the above invite.
STAR WAND INVITES - Make your favorite sugar cookie recipe. Cut out star-shaped cookies using a star cookie cutter. Place a wood Popsicle stick under each star before baking. Cool the cookies and decorate them using white or pink frosting, sprinkles, Jimmies, sugar art, edible glitters, etc.
Wrap each cookie in a piece of clear, white or pink cellophane. Tie it closed with white and pink curling ribbons. Type or write party details on a piece of decorative ballet scrapbook paper and attach to the back of each star wand.
TULLE INVITES - Start by making tiny little pink tutus out of pink tulle. Gather the top edge of each tutu. This can easily be done with a darning needle and some heavy thread or string. Create a decorative written invite on a piece of scrapbook paper and tie one to each tutu using some pink and white silk ribbons.
PICTURE PERFECT INVITES - Have your daughter dress in her ballerina best and take a photo of her. Download the picture onto a piece of pink card stock. Type out the party info using a fun decorative font. If it is a one-side invite, then put it on the reverse side. If you designed it like a card, then download the info so it appears inside.
For added interest, you could embellish the photo by gluing some pink and white silk bows to the upper left-hand corner. Another option would be to add some glitter on the tutu or make a mini tulle tutu and glue it onto your daughter's waist. You could also glue a bow to her hair.
PAPER DOLL INVITES - Turn a ballerina paper doll into an invite by gluing it to a piece of card stock in order to provide stability. Write out all the ballerina party details on the card stock and embellish the picture with various craft items like sequins, glitter, ribbons, and jewels. Hand-deliver the invites, as they will definitely be an odd shape.
